Chapter 3
A Wizard's Tricks

Chill awoke to a blast of colors, he jumped up looking around, mist covered the ground as Mia seemed no where in sight. Spotting the pot Chill saw the mist come from it as he could see Mia behind it grabbing bottle after bottle and adding it to the mix. More smoke came from the pot as it shone a deep purple onto Mia, Chill walked over and tried to peer in though he was too small. Mia stirred the pot, her purple eye and wing glowing faintly. Then it lit up in a blast, Chill closed his eyes to the extreme purple light. Once it was gone he blinked open his eyes, Mia was holding a bowl with what seemed to be the liquid from the pot. “Drink it,” she instructed. Chill grabbed the bowl, putting the wooden thing to his lips he slowly tilted it forward letting some of the liquid roll down his throat. It tasted like grapes, something Chill quite liked. Setting the bowl back in Mia's hands once he had drank it he started to feel a little strange.
“Er... Mia... what did that do!?” he frantically asked.
“Oh it's a little mixture I give to all of my guests, it's a potion to make me see what element you are or what lies ahead! I need to do it for myself too... but I'll do that after you!” Mia implied smiling like an idiot. After a while Chill burped out a smoke cloud, it was purple, probably because the potion was purple. Mia looked at it and put a paw in it, she swerved her paw a little before shaking her arm wildly making the cloud vanish. She closed her eyes and stood there, paw still raised in the air. After about 5 minuets Chill started to slowly turn away before Mia's paw slammed onto the ground making Chill yelp. Mia gasped, and looked at Chill a bit longer. “Chill... who are your parents?”
“From what Calink told me Paint and Night. Why?” Chill tilted his head a little as Mia seemed to stiffen, eyes looking at him widely.
“The bringer of hope... to restore the world... you... you... you have a great fate young Chill,” was all Mia seemed to stutter audibly. Chill pricked his ears towards Mia.
“I need to restore the world? What's with that?” he asked still a little confused. Mia sighed again closing her eyes for a brief moment before crouching down to look Chill in the eyes. Her eyes now shown with seriousness, and a little bit of... grief?
“Listen closely. Your mother, Paint, was supposed to kill Shade and save the world, she failed.” Chill frowned.
“Yeah I know! She's supposed to be dead! But... I know she isn't!” he cried not even believing himself anymore. Heck if more dragons where going around saying that Paint was dead it must be true! Though something deep inside of him said no, there's still a chance, maybe that chance was him, but he was only six! He was still a child!Mia looked at him, her gaze now full of shock. Chill only turned and walked away from her, it was tough enough as it was.
“Chill wait... you're too young to go without a mother.” Chill froze, that motherly voice was there again, coming from a stranger. Chill turned her face so that he looked at Mia. “Let me take that potion and then we can go on... together. Okay?” Chill smiled and nodded as he padded back over to her.
Mia grabbed another bowl and scooped some potion out of the still mist producing pot. She drank it, though no smoke appeared she closed her eyes, Chill sat down waiting another 5 minuets. Mia opened her eyes, they had a hint of horror, kindness and sadness, though she tried to hid them as she spoke. “Well I'm definitely coming with you!” she exclaimed. Chill smiled greatly hugging her, he had a partner now, a partner who almost seemed to be his mother.
After Mia had gathered some stuff in her bags that hung around her neck they padded out. Chill hopped onto Mia as she blasted off into the sky again, Chill clutched on now knowing what to expect for when flying on Mia. Mia flew on and on, she seemed to fly on for what seemed hours, Chill stayed on her back, not getting tired of being in the sky. Once the jungle ended Mia swooped down and landed in a field like area. Chill hopped off, though he landed on his face. Mia giggled as she watched him. Chill stood up and looked over at Mia. “Hey, wanna do a race?” She asked, Chill was reluctant at first though nodded.
“Okay! To that hill!” he called pointing at a nearby hill. Mia nodded and counted them off, as soon as she hit zero she zoomed off while Chill was left in the dust. He tried his best to run at a fast pace, he only found himself running short of breath. Collapsing into the long grass, his breathing became shallow as pain coursed through his chest. Mia was by his side immediately, trying her best to calm him down. Taking a deep breath Chill managed to get his breathing under control, standing up gain Chill looked at the ground.
“What happened!?” Mia asked trying not to sound worried.
“I... I can't run... I can't get enough air,” Chill said through his panting. Lifting his head he looked over at Mia. “I'm fine now, this usually happens when I run.” Mia looked at him dumb founded as Chill padded off towards the hill, Mia smiled knowing the potion had to be true, true about the hope bringer.
